Trump Offers UFC Boss Dana White the White House Press Secretary Job

President Donald Trump said Saturday that he has offered the job of White House press secretary to Dana White, the president and CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

“I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump went further, saying he wanted White to bring a group of UFC fighters along with him to serve as assistants, “even though some are not from our Country,” according to CNBC. “We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left,” Trump wrote. “Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!”

White’s cryptic response

White appeared to respond on Instagram Stories with a picture of himself standing behind the press secretary’s lectern in the White House, captioned “On to the next chapter.” CNBC reported it was unclear whether White has actually accepted the position or was simply acknowledging the president’s request in jest. MS NOW reported that the White House had not publicly confirmed that White will take the job.

A job that keeps changing hands

The press secretary post has been a revolving door. In October, Katie Zacharia left the role just five days after replacing Karoline Leavitt, following a single press briefing. Trump told reporters at the time that he had suggested she step down.

The Dana White offer also follows Friday’s announcement that deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller will replace Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff, part of a shake-up after Republicans lost both chambers of Congress in this week’s midterm elections. Trump has also said he may make more Cabinet changes.

A longtime ally

Trump and White have been friends for years. White praised Trump as a “fighter” during the 2016 campaign and campaigned for him in 2024. Earlier this year, White helped stage a UFC event at the White House.

The Guardian noted it was unclear whether the offer is part of an actual plan or an attention-grabbing move. White does not appear to have prior professional experience as a government spokesperson, MS NOW reported.
