The incident occurred late Wednesday evening when Jheyco Borda Chura, a retired Marine and local resident, was outside installing a dashcam on his truck. According to Borda Chura, as he focused on his task, a group of teenagers approached him suddenly, demanding his keys, phone, and belongings. “They came up aggressive, demanding I hand everything over,” he recounted.
Instead of complying, Borda Chura took immediate action. He says he grabbed one of the suspects’ guns, leading to a chaotic struggle. Video footage captured from his doorbell camera shows the tense moments that followed: the veteran wrestling the gun away, a shot fired from the suspect’s firearm, and the ensuing fracas.
The video exhibits a scene of controlled chaos—Borda Chura grappling with the armed teen, senior family members rushing to his aid, including his father and younger brother. With swift teamwork, the family managed to hold the suspects until police arrived. Remarkably, no one was injured during the altercation.
Officers who responded to the scene confirmed that the suspects were taken into custody without further incident. Law enforcement officials praised the quick reactions of Borda Chura and his family, emphasizing the importance of remaining calm and acting decisively during such threatening encounters.
