A heartwarming story emerged recently when a 61-year-old father, Jim Gogan, experienced the joy of seeing colors for the very first time, thanks to a thoughtful Christmas gift from his son.
Jim had struggled with color vision for most of his life, particularly distinguishing reds and greens. This challenge even affected his ambitions in the Air Force, where he was unable to become a pilot because he couldn’t read the radar screens accurately.
For years, Jim’s family had discussed getting him a pair of special colorblind glasses, and this December, his son Kyle finally made it happen, using a bonus he received from work.
A touching video shared by the family captures Jim’s emotional response as he sees colors clearly for the first time. “He’s never been able to tell color,” Kyle, 39, from South Carolina, explained. “He’ll ask for his blue shirt, but it turns out to be green.”
Prior to the big reveal, Kyle had prepared a series of colorblind tests for the family to take, and Jim struggled with almost every question. However, once Kyle handed him the glasses, the transformation was instantaneous.

As Jim slipped the glasses on and gazed at a colorful drawing of a Christmas tree, tears of joy filled his eyes. “It was incredibly emotional to see my dad react this way,” Kyle shared with SWNS news agency.
After regaining his composure, Jim took the colorblind test again and this time, he answered every question correctly, with the vibrant color red bringing him the most delight. He couldn’t stop admiring how beautiful the bricks on houses looked.
The following day, the family took Jim for a drive to immerse him in the colorful beauty of nature. He was in awe of the lush green trees and the bright blue sky.
Now, Jim is frequently wearing his new glasses, enhancing his experience of the world around him. He’s even enjoying playing golf with them, relishing the vibrant greens like never before.
