Philadelphia Schools Now Guarantee Water and Bathroom Breaks with Daily Recess–and Ban Silent Lunches
In a remarkable move towards enhancing student well-being, Philadelphia schools have embraced a new wellness initiative that guarantees both recess and bathroom breaks. This program aims to uphold the dignity of students, making essential needs non-negotiable. Under this new policy, teachers are prohibited from withholding bathroom access as a form of discipline. Additionally, elementary students are assured of “movement breaks” after every 90 minutes of seated learning.
